Clackamas County deputy kills a 30-year old pony named Gir, a beloved pet of Fitzgerald family, and left it on the roadside.

The American Miniature Horse went missing and the Fitzgeralds got worried, so they started knocking on neighbors doors trying to find their pet. After a while they have found Gir laying in a neighbor’s yard. At first they thought that he was sleeping but then they saw blood coming out of his head. “We walked up closer, and I bent down to pet him, and that’s when I saw the pool of blood behind his cheek bones,” Crista Fitzgerald recalled.

The neighbor told Crista that Gir was put down by an officer.

Police claimed that this poor pony was hit by a car and that the deputy witnessed that. So he decided to help the dying animal and shoot it, to stop the pain. According to their claims, deputy also made a call to Oregon Humane Society because he was also considering giving the pet to euthanasia.

Fitzgerald consulted with a vet after the incident, and they found out that there were no broken bones on the pony before he got shot. Gir was actually very healthy before he was shot, which means there was no car hitting.

Also, officer never made a phone call to Oregon Humane Society. He did call a veterinarian and then refused to take the advice from the vet by saing that he will take care of the problem on his own.

Sheriff’s office started the investigation of this case and later admitted that shooting Gir was a mistake. Also Sheriff Craig Roberts apologized to the family and promised to try to make things right.

However, the Fitzgeralds haven’t heard anything from sheriffs office since the apology.

Their pet, who “was like a part of the family” was killed, left on the roadside, then police tried to lie to them and at the end they were left with an apology that felt like an attempt of the police to silence them.

Adam Fitzgerald and his wife Crista are planing to sue the killer of their beloved pet.

I have no doubt the sadist cop would shoot you too, and then lie about why.
