Only by sheer luck, the 29-year-old Dustin Theoharis from Auburn survived after being shot 16 times by two police officers who burst into his apartment without a warrant, looking for his arrested roommate’s gun.

Theoharis was crudely woken by two armed uniformed men who rushed into his room and started yelling out orders at him. He reacted in a way most people would, instinctively reaching for the flashlight by the bed. Detective Aaron Thompson and Corrections Officer Kris Rongen immediately responded by shooting the man 16 times.

Detective Benjamin Wheeler, one of four other officers present at the scene, came into the bedroom to find Theoharis in a pool of his blood and two baffled cops still in the state of shock. Luckily the man was rushed to the hospital fast enough for doctors to save his life.

Thompson and Rongen tried to justify their action by claiming that Theoharis reached for the gun, but no weapon was found in his room. The main reason this police action was organized was Theoharis’ roommate Nicholas Harrison, an ex-convict, failing to report for community supervision. Harrison was arrested before the raid and the police searched his place for weapons so they could charge him with parole violation.

The King County Prosecutor dropped all charges against the two officers, justifying the brutal shooting as a proper response to a “perceived risk” to their safety.

this was in Auburn, WA not DC

Well, this did not occur in Washington, DC it occurred in Washington State, where King Co. is located. While I am all for informing people of these types of incidents it unfortunately takes away from the credibility of a story when it is reported inaccurately, that is what people will focus on instead of the actual incident itself. The story itself was not inaccurate but when you have an emblem of the wrong department prominently displayed at the top of the story, that hurts the content and critics will latch onto those things.

    Quote unquote.
How nice of the prosecutor to deny the victim justice by ensuring that the cops wont stand trial!
Lets get this straight, cops commit a break in, without warrant, which it then becomes a BREAK IN, A CRIME, and then the cops shoot the sleeping VICTIM! 16 TIMES! FOR REACHING FOR A FLASHLIGHT!
VICTIM was in his apartment, doing nothing wrong, innocently sleeping in HIS BED! and COPS BREAK IN AND SHOOT HIM 16 TIMES!
Now WHAT ON EARTH IS THE PROSECUTOR WORRIED ABOUT?
The prosecutor is probably asking himself “HOW CAN I COVER THOSE DUMB ASS COPS BUTTS FOR THIS STUNT,,,,,,,,HUMMMMM,,,,,,,,I GOT IT, I KNOW, I WILL PUBLICLY CLAIM THE OFFICERS ARE JUSTIFIED AND SIMPLY REFUSE TO PROSECUTE! YAAAAAAA! HAH THE PUBLIC FALLS FOR ANYTHING NOWADAYS, HAH!”
You know what people? I think under those circumstances citizens are JUSTIFIED IN GETTING ARMED SINCE COPS COMMIT BREAK IN’S AND SHOOT THE RESIDENTS WITHOUT WARRANT OR CAUSE!
I think the citizens are also JUSTIFIED IN GETTING RID OF THEIR INCOMPETENT PROSECUTOR AS WELL!

The King County Prosecutor only see’s things from Detective Aaron Thompson and Corrections Officer Kris Rongen’s eye’s!
What about the citizens “perceived risk” of out of control cops that never stand trial for illegal break in’s!?
Why should citizens of King County trust in their police when police commit illegal break in’s and shootings and all the prosecutor does is cover the cops butts!
What happens when citizens feal the need to be armed because they have a “perceived risk” of being shot while sleeping in their homes!?
Claiming self defense and justification is a too way street citizens can use the same defense cops use, self defense and justification and “perceived risk” to their safety.

Here is why cops don’t go to prison, our system is corrupt, corruption charges against government officers get covered up, ignored, and stonewalled!
Local law agency’s control our laws and they use our laws as a tool to get want they want and they use our laws to cover their own butts.
Local authority’s can frame anyone and local authority’s control the court rooms with corrupt judges and stacked jury pools!
Do you honestly believe people get fair trials in America?
Who decides what people go into the jury pool? did that ever cross your mind?
County courts rely on the county sheriffs to fill the jury pool with possible jurists!
Did it ever occur to people that when a cop is forced to stand trial on criminal charges that the sheriff simply fills the jury pool with people that are sympathetic to police?
When the prosecutor and defense attorneys pick out jurists from the jury pool they end up getting only people that are friends, or relatives, of law officers!
Prosecutors always look for ways not to prosecute cops, when cops are charged with a crime the first person to come to the defense of the cop IS the prosecutor themselves!
The prosecutors job is not to defend cops but they do it anyway because they are corrupt!
If public pressure forces prosecutors to prosecute a cop then the county sheriff simply fills the jury pool with people that are sympathetic to police!
Do your own research don’t take my word for it, look up a criminal trial where a cop is charged with felony’s in a criminal court of law, and try to find out who were the people in the jury pool when the prosecutor and defense attorney’s picked their jurists!
Where O where is that list of people in the jury pool, how many are related or sympathetic to police?
If you caught cops framing you for a crime and you got evidence on it and you demand a trial, how would you feel about the jury knowing the entire jury pool is picked by county sheriffs before jurists are selected by prosecutors and defense attorneys!?
Don’t you think corrupt county sheriffs can protect their BRO’S from prosecution by stacking the jury with more BRO’S!?

Remember people, when the cops illegally break into your home while you innocently sleeping in your bed and shoot you several times the our tax dollars are being used by the prosecutor to make sure those cops get off looking like good guys and not stand trial for anything!
    Don’t forget!

  7. Jack says:

Just remember that this works both ways. There will be no more safety’s on bedside weapons. If the man had shot both cops, would this crooked Prosecutor have dropped the charges? In Texas he would have. He would have had no other choice. And still suck air.

  8. terry wagar says:

Anytime just two cops commit a early morning break in without a warrant then they are planting evidence!
In this situation the two cops accidentally woke up the tenant and the two cops unloaded on the resident/witness trying to kill him because the cops are caught in a armed break in and they don’t want witnesses!
Cops and prosecutors will make up any scenario they need to to cover their butts!
When cops have warrants then they have several officers in riot gear kick down the door and are not quiet about it!
Two cops with no warrant only have one motive for a armed break in, and that’s to plant evidence framing the residents.

I’m the victims brother Jacob Theoharis. Today the cops and Dustin went to mediation which is a payoff instead of going to trial. The police depts mediator came with 1mil for a payoff amount which is a big slap in the face. They almost killed a person for sleeping and then they want to pay him a million bucks and just have it go away. Wtf is wrong with this world???

  10. Andrea says:

I hate Cops. I am so sick of tired of them and they had no right to shoot a guy that was asleep. That poor guy. It makes me so mad that they did that to Dustin. See why I hate cops. They think they can walk around shooting people for fun. Go eat doughnuts ass hole cops.

  11. Shane says:

I was roughly twenty feet away from dustin when the cops tried to murder dustin while he was in a dead sleep there is no amount of money that would make it okay for them to do what they did but a million dollars is a slap in the face as Jake said

THE PORTLAND POLICE AND MULTNOMAH COUNTY SHERIFF’S BREAK INTO CHILDREN’S BEDROOMS THROUGH THEIR BEDROOM WINDOWS AND THEY RAPE AND PHOTOGRAPH CHILDREN AND THEY POISON THE PARENTS COFFEE POTS WITH ANTIFREEZE AND THEN THEY SPEND A COUPLE HOURS PRINTING FLYERS GIVING INNOCENT PERSON THE BLAME FOR THEIR CRIMES AND THEY CALL THAT PEDOFYING PEOPLE!

THEY BRAG THAT THEY KILL OFF A LOT OF PEOPLE BY PEDOFYING PEOPLE AND THEIR FOND OF USING LOOK-A-LIKES TO MAKE CHILD PORN AND THIS IS HOW THEY FRAME INNOCENT PEOPLE FOR CRIMES THAT LAW OFFICER’S COMMIT!

OFFICER ERIC CARLSON AND OFFICER JOHN RAY COMMITTED A EARLY MORNING BREAK IN ON MARCH 26TH 2007 AND THEY RAPED AND PHOTOGRAPHED CHILDREN AND THEY KILLED A FEMALE NAMED JESSICA AND THEY POISONED MY COFFEE POT BEFORE LEAVING MY APARTMENT!
